This painting is of mountains in a disney-ish style and Gaston holding a kiwi, he seems very excited about it. In the foreground one can see a tree and Gaston himself, in the mid ground is snow and a few rocks, and in the background are the great snowy mountains. I made this painting with Tempera paint and I sketched it with a pencil. I used shading around gaston and behind rocks to create a sense of texture. I darkened objects in the foreground to emphasize depth.
This extremely mind-blindingly spooky forest was depicted with usage of paints. I used tempera paint to paint this, taking advantage of the ability to paint light over dark. You can see the dots and mushrooms over the black foreground. I made the from darker in order to display an illusion of depth, as if the fog makes far away trees a lighter shade of purple. Dark colors and twisting branches create the spooky feeling. This painting makes me mystified by the beauty and spookiness of the forest.
I created this print with a rubber block and block printing ink. I drew a picture, which was rubbed onto the block, carved out the depth in the image, and then rolled ink onto the block with a roller. The colors I chose were green and red, Christmas colors, due to the ever-approaching holiday season. I drew a person with a Christmas hat and write the word 'noel' at the bottom of the image. i used hatching and crosshatching as well as a bit of stippling on the hat to shade, which was reverse shading as the block prints the reverse of what you cut into it. This print makes me happy, as the face is smiling.
For this drawing I drew a shoe and a hand emerging from it. I drew this because I thought it would be a very interesting subject and would be very nice to look at. In the drawing there is also two lockers, a dip pen, and a bottle of ink. I used a dip pen in order to draw this and I used a sturdy paper that could absorb the ink without smudging. I played with many small shapes to make up the shoe, I made the lockers small to create an illusion of depth, and I tried new shading techniques including hatching, crosshatching, and stippling. This drawing makes me happy to look at, as it's weird yet amusing.
I painted my brother in a 3/4 point of view. I used pencils and erasers to sketch a picture, and then painted it with tempera paint. I used different shades of color to create the affect of shading and form, making my painting look realistic. Highlights display a contrast between bright and dark colors which also aid the illusion of livelihood. The painting makes me feel a bit happy as it turned out well, but it isn't accurate enough that it looks much like my brother.
This is a self portrait of myself when I was fourteen. Back then I had long hair and I felt that I wanted to draw it, to to remember how I used to look. This was drawn using new techniques such as placing the eyes in the middle of the head. I drew this with a pencil, and used it to shade under the eyes, nose, lips, and chin. I also made sure that the proportions were correct on the face, to keep the eyes generally lined up and the same size. This drawing makes me happy because it reminds me of how I used to look and how much I've changed.
This painting is of several leaves I found outside. I chose two red leaves, two green leaves, and one yellow leaf. I used watercolor paints, first placing the yellow undertone and then the actual colors of the leaves. The shadow is blue to intensify the drawing and to make it more lively. I added texture by running the paints, and colored the leaves brightly to attract emphasis.
I used a pencil and a ruler to draw this hallway. I used a vanishing point to line up my lines and shapes and to create the illusion of form. I used hatching to create the illusion of shading and depth in the drawing. This hallway makes me feel happy because it's very neat and leads to a door that leads outside. It is one of the hallways one would see when leaving school, which could mean freedom!
This drawing is of a room, with added depth through the usage of one-point perspective. I drew this room with a pencil and I made sure to decorate the room with a chair, stars on the ceiling, a skylight, an air vent, a door, a painting, a mouse-hole, a chipmunk, and an elf on the shelf. I added a vanishing point, which all of the lines tilt toward, creating the affect of depth in the drawing. Shapes were distorted by the vanishing point, to appear as a complete form. Proportion was also influenced, closer objects are larger and farther away objects are smaller. This room has a very silly feel, the painting of the kiwi, the chipmunk, and the elf on the shelf create that feeling, it makes me happy.
